Jeremiah Wood passed away on May 1, 2023, when his life was abruptly taken by a hit and run driver.
Jeremiah was an extremely kind and caring man who gave generously of himself. He literally cared more about the needs of others than he did of his own. He loved his daughters dearly.
At no time was he ever critical of others. In fact, Jeremiah’s disposition was very positive and uplifting. His cheerful smile was his trademark.
Anything in need of an adjustment or repair was considered a challenging hobby. Those that knew and loved him appreciated his artistic talents. He literally carved a motorcycle replica from Styrofoam. He was truly a jack of all trades.
Simon the baby squirrel. Simon was Jeremiah’s BFF. He went everywhere Jeremiah could take him. He was either in his jacket pocket or in his backpack. Jeremiah was a kind soul who adored animals.
Jeremiah is survived by his spouse Jana E. Wood of New Iberia; daughters Jada Wood (Jalen) and Jodi Wood both of New Iberia; mother, Ruth Archer, Elizabethtown, KY; sister Tina Porter (Tony) of Oxford, IN; brother, Joshua Wood of Lydia.
Preceded in death by his father Gary Wood.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Jeremiah’s life will be held on Saturday, June 17th from 1:30 pm to 5:00 p.m. at Greene Funeral Home, 802 Weldon Street in New Iberia.
